Autodesk Revit
The BIM authoring tool most US architecture practices standardise on.
What it does
Revit is a building information modelling application: you model walls, floors, roofs and systems as real building elements, and the plans, sections, elevations and schedules are views onto that single model rather than separate drawings.
It is the default in most large and mid-size architecture practices in North America, which matters as much as the feature list — consultants, contractors and clients will usually expect a Revit model, and staff will usually already know it. It is subscription-only and demands real hardware.
